Seven years after it established the staging  the International Creative Writing Workshop Series to encourage aspiring writers  for seven years, Fidelity Bank  has inaugurated the digital version of the project.

It says the success of the initiative  spurred  it to launch the Fidelity Creative Writing Blog and Literary Café Weekly Writing Competition.

“The new series will have contestants compete weekly by posting their entries to a site developed specifically for this purpose. Weekly, the bank’s creative writing blog ( will host 10 of the best works which anyone can read by simply visiting the link on the Banks Official website  New topics and also previous week winners will be made public every Monday on the Banks social media platforms, Facebook, and Twitter, “fidelitybankplc ,” it adds in a statement.

It adds that to maintain the standard of the blog, a panel of internationally acclaimed writers will oversee the selection of the works and will announce the weekly winners. Fidelity Bank by this hopes to further encourage bloggers, online writers, poets and indigenous storytellers as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

The annual International Creative Writing Workshop series is part of the bank’s contribution to the preservation of Nigeria’s literary tradition,  which was made world famous by notable writers, such as the late Chinua Achebe, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, Ben Okri, Niyi Osundare, Chimamanda Adichie, Chris Abani, Helon Habila and others.
