Still on the quest for the ultimate leadership starting from the student’s unionism to the secular society, the Igbo students from university of calabar made a trip to the palace of H.R.H Igwe S.O Ezeja, Ideke 11of Iheaka kingdom in Enugu state.
Consequently, the president of federation of Igbo students’ Comr. Ekene Odumegwu who storm the Igwe’s palace at noon with his team of delegate conveyed his happiness towards the kind gesture of his majesty Igwe S.O Ezeja on how he welcomed them like his sons.
Emphatically, the president of the Igbo student Ekene Odumegwu pointed out the reason why they decided to visit His majesty. Owning to the unquestionable fact that the Nigeria student cannot do without the advice from the elders, the need for a constant interaction with the elders for understanding of things about leadership and the good culture of the Igbos goaded our spirit to pay you a courtesy visit, the president said.
However, the secrete of any organization, institution or family is based upon good leadership, and such, good way of leadership in the students unionisms and elsewhere became too paramount, the Igwe said. To the Igwe, it is a very wonderful idea that we have come to seek wisdom where there is one, coming close to the elders will help unleash and embolden the beautiful things of life and the wisdom hold by the elders, the Igwe said and because the students are the leaders of tomorrow, then the traditional ruler will always wish to advice and blesses them whenever they comes around because they are not politicians rather leaders of people, said the Igwe.
Coming to leadership and what is happening today in Nigeria, the Igwe out rightly deduced that they are not happy especially the way the Bokko Haram set are killing our citizens, to him, he urged that government should do something more elevating to hoist the security strength of our country with that we can boost of good leadership because the best way to lead at any level is by knowing the problems of the people and solve them.
Duely, the Igbo students’ president pointed out figuratively the need to understand the Igbo culture. According to the Igwe, anything is subject to change except change itself, said the Igwe. Our culture as Igbo people is interesting, they are our own heritage but we Igbos are misunderstanding it therefore killing our culture, but he urges everybody to try and understand the culture of Igbo which says if you do good you inherit it and if you do bad that will be your passion, everybody should follow our traditions the way they are so there will be respect and moral in the society: selecting of kings, taking of tittles getting marriage are to be done the way they are supposed and stop “churchsizing” everything the Igwe said.
According to His Majesty church is where we go to and worship God not committing sins and causing troubles to ourselves or do put things upside down.
At the conclusion, the Igbo student’s president thanked the Igwe S.O Ezeja for the fruitful ends of the brief session with him and the Nigeria Igbo Students of UNICAL.
