Sources in the command, who did not want their names published because they were not authorised to speak with the press, said the corporal might have committed suicide after he recently learned that he was suffering from a terminal disease that he refused to disclose.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in the morning, as police officers were preparing to go out of the barracks on routine patrol. The police officer allegedly excused himself and returned to his house where he turned his gun on himself.
“He complained of headache and went back into his room,” said one of his colleagues. “Within seconds, a gunshot was heard from the room.”
