There was confusion  on Friday in Jere town in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State as  dispute over ownership of  land turned bloody.

Husband to a former Minister of Finance and a serving Senator,  Nenadi Usman,  Dr. Usman Sa’ad, who a first class emir, was attacked when he attempted to broker peace between the Gbagy people and Fulani in area.

Conflicting reports alleged that the emir may have died in the process while another source claimed that the monarch was injured in the attack and is currently  in an intensive care of an undisclosed hospital in Kaduna.

The attack was alleged to be an aftermath of a land dispute between  the Sarki’s people,  the Hausa- Fulani and the Gwari people in his domain.

An eyewitness, who crave anonymity as he was not permitted to speak to the press, said the attackers were not satisfied with the emir’s handling of the land dispute.

“At the moment, nobody is sure whether the monarch (Sarki) is dead or alive. He was severely injured,” said a source.

When contacted, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olufemi Adenaike, who confirmed the incidence, said he was yet to get details of the situation. He further said that sketchy information available to him indicated that the incident which led to the attack on the Sarki was the of dispute between the Sarki’s people and the Gwari people from the area over an unresolved land dispute.

He added that his men were already deployed in large numbers to the troubled area to restore peace to the area.
