Gowon commissions projects… supports Oshiomhole for 2nd term

BENIN CITY – Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has thrown his support behind the second term bid of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, urging the electorate in the state to give the Comrade Governor their total support..
General Gowon made the plea when he commissioned Iheya and 10 adjoining roads and street lights in Benin City.
According to him, from the performance of Comrade Oshiomhole the people have appreciated him and will continue to appreciate him.
“I know you want him to continue. If anyone is doing well, he deserves the gratitude of everybody” he noted
He declared that “from what I have seen I want you to give him your total support so that he can continue to do what he is doing in all the communities.”
The former head of state added that he has only confirmed what he has heard about the Comrade Governor and he promised to render his support in any way possible for continuity of the transformation agenda he has for the state.
General Gowon clarified that he is not a member of any political party but believes on the mandate of a true leader who has the best interest of the masses at heart .
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in his remarks said his political will to extend

development to the grassroots was the driving force behind investing in the 10 adjoining roads which he said has brought back night life as well as boost the social economic welfare of the people.
The Governor noted that the urban renewal drive is to ensure that he identifies projects to the areas where the majority live and he appealed to the landlords of the community who have returned to stop harassing the tenants but should resolve their conflicts amicably.
While commending SETRACO Company for a quality work done which he said will last for a long time, the governor promised to deliver a 500 KVA transformer to boost electricity in the community.
In an address of welcome by the residents of the area, the Secretary of the community, Mr. Otis Okwukhai described third cemetery, Ivbiye and Uwa streets among the ten roads as decayed and abandoned thereby making the area a haven for criminals.
The community Commended the leadership of the Comrade Governor for bringing transformation to the people of the community, pledging their unflinching support in the forth coming election.
