The people of Kuka village in Shendam Local government Area of Plateau State experienced violence yesterday as five people were killed due to the attacked by unknown gunmen.
It was gathered that Kuka village share boundary with Taraba State and the gunmen were up to about 100 who invaded the village, about 300 kilometres from the state capital after midnight.
The gunmen entered the village, burnt houses and shot sporadically, killing five in the process and injuring others, and were said to have had sophisticated weapons at their disposal to do the havoc.
“We ran out of our houses to hide as policemen in the village could not match the fire power of the assailants who their numbers were more than that of the police force” said an eyewitness.
He added that the quick response of the military from Tabara State helped the circumstance from getting out of hand.
Captain Salisu Mustapha, the Media Officer of the Special Task Force maintaining security in the state confirmed the attack, and said that only two died assured that there is now calmness in the village
