A former Vice Chairman, Kwara state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Adewunmi Ariyo, has been killed by unknown assailants in his residence in Ilorin.

Tosin, wife of the deceased, who confirmed the death, said the five assailants, stormed their house at about 10 p.m on Thursday.

Ariyo said they dragged him to the sitting room where they killed him after collecting his car key and DVD player.

She said they then came upstairs to meet her, a nursing mother, telling her that her husband had been killed and that she should cooperate with them and handover her jewellery.

Ariyo, 42, worked in the Dental Department, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, (UITH).

Meanwhile, some of the sympathisers at the deceased’s residence on Friday described him as a soft-spoken and easy going person.
