Jonathan Assures on Combat Readiness of the Army

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday attested to the combat readiness of the army to defend the territorial integrity Nigeria as demonstrated in their combat readiness, equipment display and physical fitness.
This is as the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen AzubuikeIhejirika has warned that indiscipline and operating outside rules of engagement by troops on internal security control across the country would no longer be tolerated as those who ran foul of the rules were already being court martialed.
Jonathan gave the commendation at the the closing ceremony of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2012 (NADCEL) in Kaduna where he expressed confidence in the ability of the army to carry out their constitutionally assigned roles given the current security challenges in the country.
Jonathan who spoke through the Minister of State for Defence, EreluOlusolaObada also assured the military of the full support of his administration to ensure professionalism and provision of their needs to continue being in combat ready state.
“I have witnessed a number of interesting and impressive activities at Jaji and Kaduna which serve to showcase the commitment to professional excellence which drives the men and women in uniform to serve with consummate pride, courage and honour , adding that they are indeed an enduring to all Nigerians.
“The nation owed this gallants patriots and their families a huge debt of gratitude, they can be assured that our administration will continue to place the highest possible premium on their  welfare and wellbeing”, he assured.
