The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Sanusi lamido Sanusi has opened up on the speculation that the Presidency forced him to commence pre-retirement leave from April 1, 2014, which is two months before his expected retirement date
Sanusi who revealed this information during a meeting with Apex Bank staff in Abuja yesterday, said that he was stepping down as CBN governor willingly in June this year and added that contrary to what some section of the media reported, no one has forced him to embark on a pre-retirement leave.
It was reliably gathered by a media (NOT NAIJA CENTER NEWS) that Sanusi said “There is no pre-retirement leave for me, at least I haven’t applied for one, but I will be stepping down by June 1; I always put this nation first.”
The CBN governor also said that he has done nothing to apologise for.
“For the past four and a half years that I’ve been in the bank, I don’t think I’ve done anything to apologise to anyone for; I’m not saying sorry for anything and I don’t see myself saying sorry.”
