IKEJA – Lagos State Government has said  any motorcyclists, particularly commercial ones, apprehended for flouting  the state traffic laws would henceforth have his cycle confiscated without option of fine.

General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Babatunde Edu, said  this, yesterday, adding that the measure became necessary to curb increasing rate of flagrant disobedience to traffic laws and danger to public safety.

He said: ”Okada riders are fond of  flouting traffic laws with little or no respect for other road-users.”

Edu, who however did not say if the new move is backed by law, lamented the acts of operators riding on the main carriage way such as Third Mainland Bridge, Ikororodu Road, Carter Bridget, Funsho Williams Avenue and Lekki Épé Expressway among others.
