An angry man has reportedly strangled his wife during scuffle over sex and is now facing a murder charge at a Lagos court. The 62-year old man, Christian Agbaga, has been arraigned before Yaba Magistrate’s court, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for allegedly strangling his wife Regina Agbaga, 48, at their Lagos home. The victim was reportedly held on her neck by her husband in the night on their matrimonial bed and strangled her.
The incident happened at 10, Ligali Street, Ajegunle, Lagos. He was arrested and charged to court for the alleged murder. Neighbours said that he was forcing her to have sex in the night and when she refused, he strangled her.
“We heard when the woman was telling him to leave her alone and we thought it was husband and wife affair only to hear she was dead in the morning,” said a neighbour. This made their neighbours to conclude that he was the one that killed her.
They reported the matter to the police at Ajeromi division and he was arrested and the matter was transferred to SCID, Panti, Yaba. Agbaga is now facing a murder charge under section 221 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011 before the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. S. K. Matepo. The court ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos. P.M.NEWS gathered that following police preliminary investigation, it was discovered that she had bruises on her neck.
The court refused to take his plea and ordered that he be remanded in prison custody and the prosecutor should duplicate his file for the DPP’s advice. The matter was adjourned till 15 October for the DPP’s report.
