The police have rescued three children abducted from school by their father’s driver in Abuja last Thursday.

The victims are Chinemere Anusiem (5), Okechukwu Anusiem (4) and Nzube Anusiem (2), all children of Mr. and Mrs. Iheomadinihu.

The news was broken to our correspondent in Abuja on Monday by a family source, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media.

He said, “We’ve just been informed that the children have been found in Makurdi, Benue State; the mother just spoke to the three of them. They are safe and with the police.

“Their father, in company with some policemen, is on his way to bring them home.”

Asked what the fate of the driver is, the source said he and some individuals believed to be members of his gang were also arrested.

It was not clear as at the time of filing this report what befell the couple’s new vehicle used in the kidnap.

Attempts to get police confirmation did not yield fruit as at the time of filing this report.

Our correspondent called the mobile phone of the FCT police spokesman, Mashood Jimoh, and sent a text message but the police spokesman did not respond.
