Berom Community resident in Abuja have given President Jonathan an ultimatum to remove Fulani herdsmen from Beromland, Plateau State. punch Nigeria reports
The community said at a press conference in Jos on Sunday that the call had become necessary to stop further killings of its people.
President of the Abuja Berom, Peter Gai, said, “If you follow the series of attacks by Fulani against Berom, you will realises that 10,000 lives have been lost and property worth over N180bn destroyed.
“It is on record that the Beroms have never at anytime embarked on destruction, except that we have been on the defense always.
“As law-abiding people with the fear of God, we have exercise restrain in the face of wanton destruction of lives and property. We have cooperated with security agencies to ensure that these sensless killings of our people is stopped.
“However, rather than abating, the killings have taking a dangerous dimension where our people are been hunted like animals and killed in their very place of abode.
“Since the Federal Government and the security agencies cannot stop the Fulani from killing our people, we hereby demand that the FG should remove Fulani from Beromland to save the lives of our people.
“Senator Dantong has been killed in the course of defending Berom land, we will not give up, we are ready to continue from where he stopped until we secure our land.”
