Stop calling my husband a religious fanatic – Aregbesola’s wife cries

The wife of the governor of Osun State, Mrs. Sherifat, has expressed disappointment over the way the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, is being called a religious fanatic.

Mrs. Aregbesola disclosed this at the Government House, Osogbo on Thursday where she addressed reporters.
She said that Governor Aregbesola loves all religious despite being a Muslim.
She advised those tagging her husband as a fundamentalist to stop playing politics with serious issues.
She also debunked the believe that the Governor is finding it difficult to govern the affair of the state. She said that those who are making negative statement are the enemies of the good work of the administration in the state.
  Mrs. Sherifat added that the governor who she married many years ago is a man who believes in peace and does not discriminate anyone irrespective of their religions.
Mrs. Aregbesola stressed that, though her husband is a muslim, believes in God and allows people to have freedom in practising religion of their choice.
“I am surprised that people are now giving my husband the names he doesn’t bear. He is a very tolerant person who believes in God regardless of the religion through which people call on Him. Today, two of his sisters are married to Christians and they are doing well as Christians.
According to her, Aregbesola is a very simple man with a big heart, he gives people around him the opportunity to grow.

“We have people living with us till today who are Christians. These people go to church from our house and they also organize Christian prayers at home here where my husband also participate actively, ” Mrs Aregbesola stated.
She revealed that Governor Aregbesola built a church in Government House when he was then, the commissioner of Works and Infrastructure in the state
