Careful political watchers in the state saw it coming, especially as Ahaneku remained for a while without portfolio after Okorocha reshuffled his cabinet recently.
Apart from this development, the fiery lawyer was again written by government, reducing his office from that of a Commissioner to Special Adviser on Business Development without reason.
Another school of thought had it that Ahaneku’s exit from Okorocha’s cabinet may not be unconnected with his personal relationship with the impeached deputy governor, Sir Jude Agbaso.
When contacted, Chief Ahaneku confirmed his resignation from the State Executive Council, adding that he equally handed in his resignation letter to Governor Rochas Okorocha in his official residence.
“It is true that I have resigned my membership of the State Executive Council. I personally handed over my resignation letter to the Governor in his official residence”, Ahaneku said.
While accepting that he has a long standing relationship with the Agbasos, he however denied that his resignation had anything to do with the impeachment of Sir Jude Agbaso.
