Aggrieved students of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo State have given the federal government a seven-day ultimatum to sack the acting rector of the institution, Dr. Sanusi Jimah.
Controversies had trailed the emergency of Sanusi as the acting rector and had been accused by both colleagues and students of financial misappropriation and turning the school into a living hell.
The students made the demands during a protest in Abuja on Monday at the headquarter of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Office of NANS National PRO Comr. ID Aluta led Auchi Polytechnics students headed by the institution SUG President and other Exco Members to the Ministry to register their grievances bordering on extortion, obnoxious policy, bronchus headed displaying.
The student body also accused the Acting Rector of intimidation and killing by some vigilante which they said he approved.
NANS PRO added “We demand for substantive RECTOR since the man is on acting capacity for the past two years.
NANS give the RECTOR 72hours to conduct SUG ELECTION. We also give Honourable Minister 7 days to pronounce a substantive Rector.”
The students have also accused Dr. Jimah of paying N5m to Auchi youths to plan a counter protest in his favour.
According to the information received by NAIJA CENTER NEWS, “He has out of desperation and connived with same Awa Arua, planned a counter protest by paying the SUG senate president his boy, the sum of #5million to mobilise thugs and Auchi youth for change, to stage a counter protest to the ministry as a way of covering his sins.
“Dr. Sanusi Jimah is nothing but a thief who is still spending public funds to obstruct and evade justice. The number student of the institution, Comr. Samson Okoduwa, President of the students’ Union Government(SUG) in collaboration with NANS and over 45 students of Auchi polytechnic has expressed their displeasure in an organised and civilized manner, without any iota of mendacity and embellishment.
“Various petitions duly signed by the president, Sec. Gen and the speaker were written to the ministry and other agencies, wherein sundry issues were raised. The onus now lies on the Honourable minister to beam its searchlight on Auchi Polytechnic by declaring a state of emergency therein which is the immediate removal of Dr. Sanusi Jimah. Deputy, Director Tertiary(poly.) in the ministry is still mapping out strategies for him to cover his sins. No sinner will go unpunished.”
