The abducted mother of Mr. James Dugo, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development,has escaped from her captors, who had kept her, since Wednesday, in the thick forest between Odi and Sagbama communities in the state.
PM News Sources in security circles said that the victim, Madam Comfort escaped from the bush at about 10pm and was promptly rescued by the Divisional Police Officer in Kaiama and a team of security operatives.
The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police , Kingsley Omire,confirmed the release of the Madam Dogu,saying that she has been handed over to her family.
Omire said the victim was not hurt ,as she was hail and hearty.
When contacted the Police boss said:”Operatives are working on leads with a view to tracking down the gang. Further development will be communicated ,please.”
The 68 year-old Madam Comfort Dugo was abducted last Tuesday night by three gunmen at her residence in Odi in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government and whisked away.
Bayelsa state laws prescribe death sentence on anybody convicted of kidnapping in the state.
However, despite the high prevalence of kidnapping in the state, no kidnapper has been convicted under the law.
