Three persons died yesterday while one other person sustained injuries in a crash which occurred close to Ovia river on the Benin-Ore-Lagos highway.
It was gathered that the accident which happened in the early hours of Saturday involved four articulated vehicles.
It was further gathered that one of the trucks conveying diesel towards Ore axis ran into a stationary truck conveying iron rods, killing the driver on the spot.
An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who spoke to our correspondent blamed the accident on over-speeding and dangerous overtaking.
He said the corpses had already been taken to the morgue while the injured driver was taken to a hospital.
The state Commander of the FRSC, Samuel Odukoya, added that the traffic gridlock caused by the crash had been cleared by personnel of the FRSC.
