Angry mobs along Upper Igun road, in the heart of Benin city, has beaten up two policemen and set their vehicle ablaze.
The mobs lost their cool after a policeman pushed a bus driver to the road over his refusal to give him a bribe. The driver was crushed by a coming vehicle, an action that has led to destruction.
According to an anonymous eyewitness who narrated the incident to NAIJA CENTER NEWS correspondent said, “A bus driver coming from Third East circular road with his wife, was stopped by a police officer, as usual, the officer requested for a bribe which made the man come out of his car, but there was exchange of words probably the man wasn’t cooperating which made the police officer push the bus driver
“He fell and before he could stand up he was crushed down by an incoming trailer. His fellow drivers on seeing what happened pounced on the police van and burnt it down as the police officers fled for their lives
“The Bus Driver is still lying down dead as the youths have refused anyone carrying the corps
“Few minutes after the events, a team of patrol team came to the scene with soldiers. The angry youths chased out the soldiers and took over the police van, burnt it again.”
The sight here is nothing to behold. Blood everywhere. Now I understand the power of angry youths. We are locked up in our office as we can go out right now.
Information gathered so far indicates that the youths are still mobilising, destroying anything on site at the time of filing this report.

He, however, promised to get back as he was with his bosses at the scene.
