Since Nigerian President, Muhamadu Buhari made an out of place statement while addressing the Commonwealth Business Forum, London on Wednesday, both pro and anti-Buhari have continuously launched attacks.
Buhari had told the forum that “About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one,” Buhari said.
“More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”
Reaching, Reno Omokri an former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan said Buhari only described himself as he sits and do nothing in the Presidential Villa.
He also assured the President that Nigerians will replied to his continuous disregard on them in 2019.
He said Nigerian youths want to “sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare”-Buhari
He is describing himself. He sits and does nothing at Aso Rock. He gets free housing at the Presidential Villa. He spends 103 days in London and we pay for it! Joblessness makes him talk anyhow!
He added “Imagine Buhari saying Nigeria’s youth are not educated! Between Buhari and Nigeria’s youth who hired 13 SANs to prevent from showing his WAEC certificate? It‘s Buhari’s education that is dubious and not that of Nigeria’s youth who love education enough to seek it home and abroad!
“How can you in one breath say that your country’s youth are lazy and don’t want to work and in the next you appeal to foreign investors to come and invest in Nigeria? Someone please explain to Buhari that a father who calls his daughter a prostitute should not expect suitors!
The executive governor of Ekiti State and a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ayodele Fayose said “At 19, President Buhari left Secondary School to join the Army. At age 21,he was commissioned a second lieutenant and appointed Platoon Commander of the Second Infantry Battalion in Abeokuta, Nigeria. Where can our youths get such opportunity today?”
A blogger and a political analyst, Japhet Omojuwa who is an ardent supporter of the President said the President goofed, adding that “His statements on Nigerian Youths in London. It is actually impossible for one to believe a president would say that about his own citizens, especially without isolating those who work hard and are helping the country shine across different disciplines.”
Gimba Kankadan said “Buhari unscripted is a PR disaster for Nigeria. He told them abroad we’re not welcome because of our crimes, here he told us we’re an impatient people, and now he told them Nigerian youths are lazy. It’s like your Dad telling your potential in-laws you’re an irresponsible person.”
Another Nigerian with twitter handle @thegreyhunger said “Once Buhari puts on this his away jersey, just know he’s about to become a global inept clown.”
A Nigerian lawyer described Buhari as “President Buhari is not just socio-politically tone deaf, he’s also an incurable loose lip.”
