CRIME: Court Remanded 7 for alleged Murder in Ibadan

An Ibadan Magistrates’ Court sitting at Iyaganku has yesterday ordered the remand of seven suspected men into the Agodi Prison in Ibadan.

An Ibadan Magistrates’ Court sitting at Iyaganku has yesterday ordered the remand of seven suspected men into the Agodi Prison in Ibadan.

The Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Aliu, told the court that the suspected criminals with others that are still at large were mainly Area boys who on March 23 murdered one Ojo by setting Him ablaze over cult-related issues at Orita Merin area of Ibadan, an offence that is punishable under the Criminal code, Section 324, 316, 319 of Cap 38, Vol. II Laws of Oyo State.

The defendants, Akeem Mudasiru 30, Muideen Tajudeen 31, Saheed Mufutau 22, Akeem Isiaka 32, Saheed Ganiyu 21, Toheeb Adeleke 27 and Waliu Adeniji 20 were charged with conspiracy and murder.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Muideen Salami before adjourning the case till April 27 for mentioning said His court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and ordered that the accused men be remanded at Agodi, saying that the Court will seek advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution over the case.
