EFCC arrests ‘Wonder Banks’ in Ibadan

Men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended the management of Sobic Financial & Investment Consultant, and 26 other companies known as wonder banks in Ibadan, Oyo state capital for carrying out illegal financial transactions without registering with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) before embarking on such with the members of the public.

Men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended the management of Sobic Financial & Investment Consultant, and 26 other companies known as wonder banks in Ibadan, Oyo state capital for carrying out illegal financial transactions without registering with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) before embarking on such with the members of the public.

The Ibadan Zonal Head of media of the Commission, Mr. Femi Oyewole, disclosed that the suspects were arrested at different times within Ibadan.

The arrested suspects include The Managing Director of Unlimited Grace Investment Limited, Mr. Olayeni Oladokun Samuel and 10 members of his staff, Grooming Centre’s Chris Igbinake and four of his staff and Mr. Akanbi Oluwakemi of Grace & Mercy Households Improvement Initiative and four of her staff.

According to the Commission, other suspects arrested include Awokunle Olukemi, Sikiru Obadara, Olasunkanmi Michael, Adeoti Adegboyega, Oyewusi Esther and Ojekunle Victor Olukayode who are all staffers of Sobic Financial & Investment Consultant.

He further stated that the suspects have since been cooperating by giving useful information to the commission unraveling the extent of their illegal activities. “These “people” have their offices In and Outside the Oyo state, and they allegedly give loans to unsuspecting members of the public who register with them after 10 percent deposit of the total loans sum and charge 15 to 20 percent interest on all the loans granted to them,” he stated.
