The woman Philomina Chieshe who claimed a snake swallowed N36m in the board’s office in Makurdi, Benue State, has been suspended by her employer, The Joint Admissions, and Matriculation Board.
This was disclosed on Sunday by the JAMB Head of Information, Fabian Benjamin.
Benjamin said while the security agencies continue with their investigations, the board had decided to take her through the other disciplinary measures.
“She has been suspended and she is going through all other disciplinary procedures while investigation is ongoing on the matter. Her claim was that a snake came into the office and swallowed the N36m proceeds.”He said.
It could be recalled that the woman had accused a misery snake that allegedly sneaked into JAMB office and made away with the N36m cash.
The money was said to be cash derived from the sales of scratch cards from JAMB office and other centres in the state.
According to reports, a team of auditors who were dispatched to different states of JAMB discovered the fraud. The auditors were to take inventory of sold cars and money recovered from the sales.
The woman reportedly told the team that she could not account for the N36m which was proceeds from the previous years before the scratch card sale was abolished.
Later, she reportedly accused her housemaid who she said connived with another woman Joan Asen to make away with the money spiritually.
She reportedly said she had saved money in the bank but couldn’t account for it. She reportedly said she went as far as saving the money in a secured vault but found it empty whenever she opened it.
