Journalist diagnosed with kidney failure dies

A journalist with Newswatch Daily, Nurudeen Jewoola, who was three months ago, diagnosed with kidney failure, is dead.

Jewoola was discovered dead on Sunday morning by his neighbours at his Mowe home where he lived alone.

Our correspondent had on May 13 2013, published Jewoola’s struggle with kidney failure after a near death experience left him bedridden for over a month at the Marina General Hospital.

A referral letter from the General Hospital Marina signed by consultant nephrologist, Dr. Ohihoin, had described Jewoola’s condition as requiring urgent haemodialysis.

The letter read, “The above named patient is a 50-year-old, recently diagnosed hypertensive who is being managed as a case of decompensated CLD, with chronic glomerulo nephritis. In view of the above investigation results, patient will require urgent haemodialysis.”

Prior to his death, Jewoola had undergone five sessions of dialysis, at the cost of N45,000 for each session. A kidney transplant had been estimated at N7m.
