N787mn fraud: Court frees four UBEC officials, blasts EFC

A Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged and acquitted the seven persons accused of a N787 million fraud at the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC.

Four UBEC directors, an American contractor, and two companies are being prosecuted for the alleged fraud.

The court said the witnesses provided by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, lack credibility.

The judge, Adamu Bello, also ruled that “evidence produced by prosecution were not credible.”

He said “no reasonable tribunal will convict on such evidence.”
