Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Callistus Ilozumba has described Senator Chris Ngige’s allegation that Governor Peter Obi has, in the last seven years collected N3 trillion from the federation account without any meaningful development in the state as wicked and manifestation of deep-seated ill-will.
He stated that it’s laughable to alleged that the Amnambra State governbment has collected N3 trillion so far, when the addition of the monthly allocation for the state in the period is far less than that. The commissioner stated that Governor Obi must be considered a genius and “money doubler” for receiving the total of three trillion naira in a state with monthly allocation of less than N3 billion in seven years.
“For those who hate the development of Anambra State or who scheme for the money meant for development to be shared among them, let me happily increase their blood pressure by announcing that by the end of the year we will spend billions of Naira to procure buses for all secondary schools in the state, computers for all primary schools in the state, among other revolutionary measures that are coming,” he said.
He stated that Governor Obi is making efforts to bring investment to the state, which prompted his recent trip to South Africa. While in South Africa, he said: “Obi took the opportunity to market the state as an investment destination, concluded talks with Distell of South Africa on building their facility in the state; accompanied the Federal Minister of Trade and Investment to visit Nissan, South Africa on possible collaboration with INNOSSON Motors of Nnewi; visited the water facility of the PCI South-Africa, in Pretoria that is working on Onitsha Water Scheme and visited the International Hotel Managers to manage the three hotels under construction in the state, among other high profile meetings.”
On the roads construction that were recently flagged off at Upper Iweka and the Ozubulu end of the Atani-Ozubulu road, the commissioner gave assurance that the state had set aside enough money to complete all projects. He called on the benefiting communities to monitor the projects and report any wrong doing to the government. Earlier, Governor Obi inspected the pace of woek on the rehabilitation going of Rogeny Stadium, where Anambra State Government had committed the initial N30 million. During the visit, proprietor of the stadium, Chief Rommy Ezenwuka, said that Obi had clearly distinguished himself among past governors of the state.
