An Edo group, a body for the galvanization of germane interest of Edo People worldwide, Edo Political Renaissance Network (EPRN) has threatened to expose the serial looting of Edo state treasury and the NNPC crude facilities by the operators of Ocean Marine Securities Organization to protest the interest shown by a former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for the position of the National Chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress.
The organization is owned by one Capt. Hosa Okunbor, one of the known financiers of the APC in Edo State and one Tunde Aiyeni.
In a statement on Thursday exclusively shared with NAIJA CENTER NEWS by the acting Chairman, Prof. Godwin Omoruyi Omorusi, the group rejected in totality, Oshiomhole’s bid for the APC Chairmanship.
The group said that appointing Oshiomhole as the Chairman of the ruling party would ridicule the anti-graft war by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as the former governor (Oshiomhole) has series of pending cases before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged forgery of his Primary School Certificate and the looting of the Edo State resources.
“As someone with a pyramid of indictments hanging over him, starting from a forged Primary Six certificate, and the well-articulated pilfering of Edo State resources currently before the EFCC office, the choice of Adams Oshiomhole as APC chairman will completely ridicule the anticorruption stance of the Buhari administration as one that is extremely selective and vindictive against the opposition, but nepotistically protecting the interests of alleged thieves in the APC.
“We have it on good authority that Adams Oshiomhole bid is being sponsored by a very notorious political billionaire by name Capt. Hosa Okunbor – a well-known Ishan man of Edo State extraction who is one of the topmost cartel of illegal crude lifting from the NNPC backyard; and who has evaded EFCC’s arrest despite his close stints with Mrs. Diezani Madukwe and Jide Omokiri. We believe that supporting Oshiomhole will be tantamount to burying the Buhari anticorruption crusade. It is on this score that the said Capt. Hosa Okunbor junior brother Donaldson Efosa Okunbo was commissioned for an emergency publicity stunt aimed at placating the Benins to bury their supports for Chief John Odigie Oyegun.
“We have on record that Adams Oshiomhole had earlier in his administration awarded the inflated contract for the construction of the now failed Musical Fountain at Oba Ovoranmwen Square at a whopping sum of #600millon tonthis same Donaldson Okunbo. This was. At the same time that Servtek Construction Company owned by his elder brother, Capt. Hosa Okunbo got the over #40billion contract for the reconstruction of Airport Road, Benin City, which was cancelled by the state government because of his inability to interpret the road design. Sadly, Capt has since refused to refund the over 60% payment to the coffers of government.”
The group threatened to make public, series of serial looting of Edo State treasury by Oshiomhole and his alleged sponsor.
“In the light of the latest anti-people activism of Capt Hosa his siblings, and Charles Idahosa we have resolved to challenge their uncaring attitude with a renewed vigor and determination. In the days ahead, a catalogue of the serial looting of Edo state treasury and NNPC crude facilities allegedly by the operators of Ocean Marine Securities Organization will be made public in all relevant news medium.” It said
EPRN also accused Capt. Hosa of aiding the Ijaws who had been at loggerhead with the state government over the ownership of Gele-gele seaport in Edo State.
It said: “We are aware that the said Okunbo is aiding the Ijaws to take over the illegal possession of Benin land in Ovia, especially the Gelegele area, currently been developed for a seaport. We call on the President Buhari and security agencies, particularly the Navy to withdraw their personnel from him as they are being perceived as aiding pipeline vandalism.”
Oshiomhole declared his intention to take over the reins of the leadership of his All Progressives Congress APC at the National Convention slated for June 23 from another former governor of the State, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
HE made the declaration at the Osun Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja on May 10th.
