The embattled Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District Dino Melaye slumped on Friday while surrendering himself to the Nigeria Police.
Some of his colleagues Boma Goodhead, and a Senator from Kogi, Atai Aidoko-Ali along side his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome at about 3pm.
There is no details whether the lawmakers advised him to surrender himself, but Dino Melaye slumped at his compound and was carried into one of the police vehicles.
Boma and others accompanied Melaye to the police headquarters where they were informed that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris was not around.
The Police Headquarter informed the lawmaker that he was wanted by SARS and Melaye was taken to their commander’s office.
At the time of filing this report, Mr. Melaye is currently at the Abuja SARS office.
Over 50 policemen had on the 28 of December surrounded Melaye’s residence for alleged shooting of one Sgt. Aliyu.
The policeman, who is said to be lying critically ill at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, was said to have been injured by suspected thugs loyal to the senator in Kogi State last July.
But Melaye who represents Kogi West in the National Assembly, had barricaded himself in his home and refused to surrender for arrest.
