The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is still in the race for the seat of the National Chairmanship, a source says.
A former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had been at loggerhead with the Chairman over who to sit at the throne in the next four years.
A source closed to Oyegun and privy to the daily plans ahead of the May 14 convention informed NAIJA CENTER NEWS on Friday that the speculation of his exit from the race was spread by false media and those with hidden agenda, adding that he (the chairman) was still very much in the race.
“He is still considering, he hasn’t dropped out yet but we are still watching as things would turn out. We are still counting heads. We don’t know how the outcome going to look like.
“It is difficult to ascertain the end time and that is why he hasn’t said anything yet. Before the pronouncement, he was clear but since the pronouncement, we need to be sure whether the people are still behind him or not.” the source disclosed
On the speculation of his dropout, the source added “When you have powerful people who have control of the media so the only person who can speak on it is the Chairman, but for now, It is all speculations.”
Oyegun’s chance of remaining the chairman of his party hollowed after the President, Muhammadu Buhari called a secret meeting of the governors where they were instructed to back Adams Oshiomhole.
Some believed that Buhari made a u-turn in order to please his national leader who had claimed abandonment by the current administration.
