The Benin Youth Council has warned that the governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha must be called to order before he pitches the Igbos against the Hausa Fulani through his utterances.
The group in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Nosa Eranorikpekpe attributed the brick baths and blood-money syndrome kind of politics unfolding in Imo State to the governor’s venomous utterances in an attempt to deceive President Muhammadu Buhari into unholy alliance with retrogressive politicians, which, the group said would backfire.
BYC alleged that politicians like Okorocha dropped the political rating of the nation and the ridiculing of the credibility of the comity of enlightened Igbos in Nigeria.
The recent statement by Mr. Okorocha against Chief Oyegun is highly ungubernatorial of a supposed Governor of a State, the group says.
“It is callous, preposterous and irresponsible to say the least. Former President Obasanjo perhaps had the picture of Okorocha in mind when he advocated for a special mental examination test for officer holders and aspirants for exalted public office. He must be filling justified now.
“For the records, the only ‘don’t Oyegun committed is his unbridled resolve to reject Okorocha self serving interest to impose his son in-law as next Gubernatorial candidate of Imo. Chief Oyegun has been accused of being intolerable to corruption in his leadership. For these emulative score cards, a befitting grand reception awaits His Excellency, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun in Benin City for completing a successful tenure as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Understandably, Okorocha and his sponsors are obviously licking their wounds now since their initial plan to suspend and dismissed Chief Oyegun as APC National Chairman failed. Even as it is clear that their orchestrated devious scheme would have to succeed through a harder route of National Convention, Okorocha and his unpopular group are scared of competitive process and busy negotiating for consensus for Adams Oshiomhole.
A thousand of Governor Rochas Okorocha and his allies from Afemai land of Edo State, whose antecedence is riddled with questionable activities before he became an emergency governor of Imo State can’t dwindle the honour and pro-democracy records of our father, Chief Oyegun.”
BYC challenged the gibos to rise up and politically bury the likes of Okorocha.
