- says gun wielding thugs have taken over secretariat
EKITI STATE – The Executive governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has issued a public notice to warn indigenes to steer clear from the office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Ajilosun Area of Ado Ekiti.
The governor stressed that gun wielding thugs have been shooting sporadically after invading the said office leading to several injured members.
This was contained in the notice released by the Public Communications and New Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka on Monday evening.
The governor called on security agencies in the state to intervene to restore normalcy to the area for the interest of the people of the State.
Fayose added “Leaders of the APC are urged to call their party members in Ekiti State to order with a view to desisting from disrupting the peace of the State just because of their desperation for power. In the last three years, Ekiti State has been peaceful and never witnessed any sponsored political violence or killing until this APC’s desperation sets in.
“Once again, the APC secretariat in Ekiti State has become a war zone where gunshots boom, members of the public are advised to avoid the area for now.”
This development may not be unconnected to the just concluded ward congress and the gubernatorial primary election of the APC that led to violence on Saturday.
It was reported that shots were fired and ballot papers were destroyed.
According to reports, violence rose as members were upset about the malpractices that took place during the election.
