“I am not bothered about the defections. Ordinary Nigerians have developed confidence in us and are defending us. I assure you, the majority of Nigerians back home are appreciative of our efforts.” Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari says.
Buhari disclosed this on Sunday night in Lome Togo while responding to a question during an interactive session with Nigerian community at the Nigerian Embassy.
He said he decided to take a second shot at the Presidency knowing fully well that Nigerians are solidly behind him and they appreciate his government.
He claimed he was not bothered by the massive defection in his party, the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.
He boasted that many Nigerians will defend him in 2019 as a result of the effort of his administration.
Buhari assured Nigerians in Togo that his administration had remained steadfast to the three campaign promises: Providing security, improving the economy and fighting corruption he made during the 2015 general election.
As usual, Buhari blamed the previous government that refused to utilized even 25 percent of the huge oil revenue available to them, adding that Nigerians would not be complaining today.
He cited the $16 billion reportedly spent on electricity by a former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo with nothing to show for it.
