President Muhammadu Buhari’s support group under the aegis of Nigeria Consolidation Ambassador Network have paid and obtained the nomination forms valued at N45.5m for the President.
The form was received at the party secretariat in Abuja by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Adams Oshiomhole on Wednesday.
According to the National Coordinator of the group, Sunnisi Musa, the group rescued the President as he did not have the required cash but has enough goodwill to warrant the gesture that led to the action of the group.
This is coming barely 24 hours as the APC announced the details of the primaries and fees for the forms for the various political positions.
Aspirants for the House of Assembly are to pay a total of N850,000; House of Representative’s aspirants are to pay a total of N3,850,000.
The aspirant for the upper house will pay N7m and governorship aspirants will pay a total of N22.5 million while the Presidential aspirants part with a whopping sum of N45 million
The action of the group was announced on Facebook by the President’s assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmed.
Ahmed wrote “While president Buhari is far in China, a group of good Nigerians bought expression of interest form and nomination form for him,” Mr Ahmed wrote.
The group said its members came together to buy the form for the President because of his goodwill to the people.
“We have decided to pull our meagre resources together and purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Buhari as he presents himself to our party members to be chosen as its candidate the 2019 general election.
“Our members from the various villages, local governments and state have contributed to making this happen. It is my singular honour and rare privilege to present to you a cheque of N45 million as payment for the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Muhammadu Buhari,” Mr Musa told the party chairman.
