Another audio has emerged about Rotimi Amaechi, the Director-General of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election campaign.
This time, Amaechi was heard badmouthing Nigeria former capital, Lagos State.
The Minister of Transportation described Lagos as a “glorified village” adding that apart from business transactions, there was nothing in the state.
Since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999, Lagos State has been under the the political party that merged to form the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Ironically, a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu was appointed today by Buhari to supervise Amaechi on the President’s re-election’s campaign.
The previous audio were released in bits by Reno Omokri, a former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, and Phrank Shaibu a spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar campaign.
Amaechi said in the previous audio: “The president does not listen to anybody. He doesn’t care. You can write what you want to write. The president doesn’t care. Does he read? He will read, he will laugh. He will say ‘come, come and see, they are abusing me here’.
“In fact, there was one case of somebody in Onitsha, a trader in Onitsha who couldn’t sell his goats during Sallah. And I was with Oga on the plane and the man was busy abusing Buhari. He said, ‘Amaechi, come, what is my business with Onitsha goat seller?’”
“These are not things you publish, if you publish it you will never sit with me. Three years of Buhari everybody is dying, crying. Pressmen are crying, farmers are crying, workers are crying, politicians are crying, students are crying.
“Only three years o. The rate of poverty is very high. Nigeria will never change, nothing will ever change. The only way things can change is when everyone is killed, this country is going nowhere, you know, I am not joking o”
The audio has attracted reactions from Nigerians including from the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In the new audio, Amaechi said ” I live in Abuja, tell me where else we have infrastructure. Lagos is a glorified village. The only difference between Lagos and other cities is the fact that business is in Lagos, everybody is there doing business, so you can at least have food,” he said.
“If not tell me what else you have in Lagos? 1,000 plus megawatts. That’s all. That’s what you have. What else do you have? No water, there are no roads. When you hear traffic jams in Lagos or any part of Nigeria, where are there no traffic jams in Abuja? The reason why you meet traffic jams in Lagos is because there are no roads,” the former governor of Rivers State added.
Meanwhile, Tolu Ogunlesi a spokesperson of Mr Buhari had debunked the audio, he alleged that the first audio was referring to Goodluck Jonathan.
When another audio was released, Ogunlesi claimed that the DG’s audio was edited to paint Amaechi in bad light.
