- Shaibu moves into a new multi-million naira house
- Obaseki prefers foreigners than locals

The executive governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s administration, may look clean on the surface, but trouble is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as members are complaining of being sidelined.
Obaseki administration is hostile to those who fought tooth and nail to bring him into power, sources confirmed to NAIJA CENTER NEWS.
“Whatever the achievement of the Goodwin Obaseki administration might be, should he continue with his current hostility and exclusionist habit, this might go down in history as a sadist regime.
“While those in the highest level of the government are buying choice properties in prime locations in Benin City and overseas, Governor Obaseki continues to deny party leaders of their due welfare packages as if they are in politics to serve only his interest.”, the source revealed
Some members who didn’t want to be named due to the sensitivity of the issue complained that Obaseki has centred his administration around his Special Adviser on Economic and Development Planning, Vice Chairman of the Taskforce on Private Property Protection, Chief Osaro Idah.
The informants wondered how the governor could be very naive to entrust his administration in the hands of a man who chased his father’s widow and his half-siblings out of Nigeria in order to inherit the properties.
“He is now generally believed to have mortgaged his administration to someone whose life record is full of tales of betrayal, forgery and fraudulent “manipulations”. A Chief who betrayed his own father even in his grave and drove the father’s widow and his half brothers by her out of Nigeria in a greedy move to inherit all his father’s property. Whereas the widow was the one who took care of the father till he was assassinated as his own mother was never married to the father but hoped from one man to another. How can a governor rely on such a notorious crook for advice?
“It is now common knowledge that whoever the government dreads as one bold enough to confront him, he sets up machinery to destroy.”
The source fingered Godwin Obaseki as the person behind the purchase of the house belonging to the late Admiral Augustus Aikhomu at Dennis Osadebe Avenue for about N200m, barely 1-year in the office.
“Who bought the house of late Admiral Augustus Aikhomu at Dennis Osadebe Avenue/ Ikpokpan Road junction in the Government Reservation Area of Benin City? I challenge Governor Obaseki to answer. The house was bought for about N200m. Tongues are wagging already that he is behaving as one who lacks the enduring personal stake in posterity.”
The deputy governor, Philips Shaibu, according to NAIJA CENTER NEWS investigation had also packed into his new multi-million naira house at Aideyan Avenue, opposite Golf course.
He is on record as the Deputy Governor with the highest number of security guards in the country, including regular police, SSS, thugs and suspected cultists
Another source privy to the situation also disclosed to this medium that Obaseki is running a one-man show and has neglected everyone including the party leaders.
The source also accused Obaseki of trusting foreigners than his own people as his action during the just concluded summit in the state proved his body language.
“During the just-concluded summit, he brought in a lot of foreigners to pilot the affairs as organising committee members instead of using his commissioners, or party members.
“Well it’s not an issue of trust, he doesn’t know the game and he’s not a grass root man. Those foreigners can’t vote on election day. Well, even Oshiomhole isn’t happy with him as well, he’s has started neglecting Oshiomhole as well.
However, the source praised the governor in the aspect of roads repair. “He has tried a lot in the aspects roads, he has taken a cue from past administration”
It could be recalled that a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the state, who was the Political Adviser to the immediate past Governor Adams Oshiomhole for eight years, Chief Charles Idahosa hinted the same thing while answering questions in one of the national dailies.
Though praised the effort of the governor, Idahosa also hinted that party leaders have been left out and urged the governor to carry them along.
“The only area we, as party leaders, are not too happy is that he should carry us along in the sense that the infrastructure he is developing across the state, he should also develop our stomach.
“Like the Alaghodaro Economic Summit that he organized, only a few people in the urban areas understand the idea behind the project and it is we leaders that will always pass the message or the idea to our supporters in the rural areas.
“He is thinking of the Edo of the future. But the truth is that Oshiomhole over-pampered us as politicians and that is why it seems we are feeling left out by Obaseki. But we now understand his style; it is not as if he does not want to see politicians, he only does not want to be distracted which is good.
